I noticed that a lot of the master posts have been deleted so I figured I should upload some of the DC comics that I have on my mac. Hopefully they will all work! Since X-Men First Class is being released in a lot of countries today (and will soon be released in others) I think that X-Men master post is in order.

The X-Men are a superhero team in the Marvel Comics Universe. They were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). The basic concept of the X-Men is that under a cloud of increasing anti-mutant sentiment, Professor Xavier created a haven at his Westchester mansion to train young mutants to use their powers for the benefit of humanity, and to prove mutants can be heroes.

and now a special treat for getting all the way to the end of this list! comics are forever doing these crazy event things where some major event in the shared universe for that specific company will bring a whole bunch of characters together who don’t usually interact (for example, House of M for marvel, or Flashpoint for DC). IDK about everyone else, but I can never be bothered to track down all the issues that relate to the event, and consequently never end up reading them.

and one I never managed to get around to was the whole Infinite Crisis/52/Countdown/Final Crisis shenanigan situation, which was why it was pre cool when I tracked down an audiobook of Countdown to Final Crisis.

it features a whole ton of people voicing the characters, and oh man it is so freakin rad, you guys! they streamline the event, and even though I was missing so much context, I still was able to follow the whole thing and really, really enjoy it. TBH, I never actually got around to finishing it - I was listening to it on my ipod, and then it died and I lost my place right near the end, but the rest of it! so good so good sooooo gooooood

Things you should read: The New Avengers vol.1 & 2.

Why? Well, in my opinion, it’s a very good starting point for what’s currently happening in the Avengers comic world. I may be biased but it has a lot of my favorite things - amazing teamwork, angst, drama!!11, pretty good characterization most of the time and pretty good art. It starts off before Civil War, goes through it and continues on after it. Again, if you have any questions or are confused about a storyline or something, you always use wiki or hit me up in my askbox! Note: change cbr/cbz file extentions to rar or zip and extract.

For a loner, the mutant known as Wolverine sure has a lot of friends. Through the years, he’s been a member of countless teams and alliances, but some of his relationships have been more tender in nature. He’s had sidekicks of sorts in the likes of Kitty Pryde and X-23, and especially Jubilee. Finding a surrogate daughter in her, Wolverine has always tried to protect Jubilee from the dangerous life they lead. And now that she’s fallen victim to a vampire’s bite, she needs him more than ever - whether she likes it or not. As Jubilee spins out of control, Wolverine has dedicated himself to saving her humanity - but with her fate hanging in the balance, he may just have to kill a few people to stop her from doing the same. This time, protecting Jubilee may put them both in their graves!

So recently I’ve had some followers/friends express that because of my obsessive/excessive blogging of comics they had garnered an interest in the material themselves. Which is to say, awesome. Comics are amazing when they aren’t crap. That may sound weird, but trust me on this.

Basically comics can be really awful, or really good. However it’s hard to know what’s good, what’s bad, and where the hell to start. There’s a lot of comic history, and unless you have tons of cash in your pocket you won’t be able to buy each and every comic to get it all.

So I thought to myself, how can I help new fans who are interested in comics get involved? With the many movies coming out soon now is a great time to help new fans get into the paper back world of comics. With a little help and todays tech it’s a lot easier then it was say a couple years ago.

I love comics, and I love spreading that love of comics with others especially new fans who want to dive in. I’m no expert there’s still a lot I’m learning and reading about but I’d love to help where I can. ~~Also I’m greedy and want more fic. I’m also shameless.~~

So I complied a list of websites and comic masterposts* to help along the new fans who are interested but don’t know where to start.

*Note these comic masterposts aren’t mine, and I make no claim to them. They belong to the very dedicated and amazing people who take the time to compile all these comics into one file and post them for our viewing pleasure. They deserve all the credit for their hard work and dedication for spreading the comic love for all of us to enjoy.
